What topics will the symposium cover?
JSWK9 will focus on the latest working dog research and field experience from researchers, handlers, trainers and veterinarians. Topics will cover the full spectrum of the working dog field, from detection dogs to assistance dogs.
Where will the symposium take place?
JSWK9 will be April 7-10, 2025 at Hilton Peachtree City Atlanta Hotel & Conference Center in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Will there be an Online option?
No, for a variety of reasons, we unfortunately will not have an online or recorded option available.
Who can attend the symposium?
JSWK9 is open to the public, including scientists, dog trainers, dog handlers, veterinarians, breeders and anyone with an interest in learning more about the latest advancements in the working dog field.
How can I join the symposium?
To attend JSWK9, you will need to register and purchase your tickets on our website.
Do presenters also need to register for the symposium?
Yes, presenters do need to register for the conference and purchase tickets
What is the registration cost?
Full registration for the conference is $579. Students and post-doctoral fellows may register at the student fee of $399. We are also offering one day registration ($199) and two-day registration ($349) for registrants who are not able to attend the full conference.
Are workshops included in the registration cost?
The JSWK9 workshops on April 7, 2025 are not included in the registration cost and workshops are an additional fee. Workshop registrants can either sign up for our paws-on spots (with their canine partner) or as an auditor. Workshops range from $90-$125 for paws-on spots and from $50-$90 for audit spots.
Are accommodations included in the registration cost?
Accommodations are not included in the registration cost. However, we are offering a discounted room rate of $179/night for the conference at Hilton Peachtree City Atlanta Hotel & Conference Center (discount ends March 21, 2025).
Is there anything I need to do after registering?
All attendees must sign our code of conduct and release or liability.
Can I receive CE credits for attending the symposium?
We are currently approved for up to 18 CEUs for behavior consultants from CCPDT and 2.4 General Continuing Education Credits through Auburn University. When registering, attendees can indicate if they would like to receive CEUs. Additional opportunities for veterinary CEUs are under development.
Will my dog be able to attend all of the symposium events with me?
Dogs can attend workshops if registered for a paws-on workshop spot. Dogs are currently not anticipated to participate in poster presentations or technical sessions as these events are expected to have many participants. If the dog is requested as part of a presentation/demo, that can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Assistance and service dogs will be allowed access to all areas of the conference.
